The Limited Cardigan Is Not So Limited

In life we often limit ourselves in our goals, dreams and daily living. Why is it that we feel that we need to conform and do what society says we should do? I was one of the individuals who never like conforming but always felt a strain weight coming from others to do so. Whether it was a job just to get by, going to school because society says it's right, or even from the way I look. I was tired of family, friends, society putting limits on me. People telling me what I'm capable of. It got to the point I didn't even know who I was anymore. I disliked my job, school (commercially) wasn't for me, and I was annoyed with my hair. I was tired of being something that I'm not and people telling me I should settle for less than what I deserve.

Zara Flats on a New Journey

I'm on fire and I need this hydrate to cool me off! You know why, because I'm back guys! I'm back and I brought my bestfriend along and his name is Jesus. Let me let you in on what's been going on for the past two months. I have been engulfed in my church, a church that is beyond amazing. The Rock Church ! It’s not your typical church! It’s non-denominational and not religious. It is more so about building a relationship with God and understanding he said come as you are! Meaning he loves you for you! Wow, someone who loves me for me, mistakes and all.

Dapper Gal at NYFW

NYFW has been such a crazy rollercoaster ride. Running back and forth to different shows, getting stop along the way to have your photo taken by strangers and photograpgers. It's like your famous for a week, your impoirtant for a week. Lol, honestly its all good fun. With all the running around I had to do I decide to go for a taiolerd yet sassy look. A twist on the "dapperman" this time it's dapper gal.

NYFW Part III

NYFW is over, until next year. Ahhh the horror, but to hold you over here are my finally two shows. I hope you guys enjoyed the journey as much as I did. It was nothing short of amazing. This season was filled with hues of purple and blue, glimpse of gold and silver, and fun sequins in all shapes and sizes. Walking into MBFW tent was in it's own a blessing from above. All and all this journey was truly amazing! Finally shows and looks on deck.

Gracious at NYFW

I am so grateful that God made this come to pass, it's not short of a blessing that I was able to go to these shows with only a few months of blogging experience. This goes to show you its about quality and having faith. My second look for NYFW was a monochrome look, green in three different shades.

NYFW Part II

Part II of my NYFW journey was nothing but magical and inspiring. It's amazing to know these designer, like myself put so much time and care into each and every single piece they create. It's nothing short of magnificent. Design is an art that should not be taken for granted. This is surely motivation for me to keep going towards my dream.

NUDE at NYFW

Everyone is always debating about what to wear during NYFW. They are try to get notice by photographers to get on magazines or online style sites. Sometimes, they end up trying to hard and in the end have no one really care about their look.

NYFW Part I

Every year the women of NEW YORK leave the past behind and look forward to the future... this is known as  FASHION WEEK. - Carrie Bradshaw I had the privilege this year to go to several different shows all around the city. When I say it was overwhelming yet a gracious, beautiful, amazing blessing, I mean it. I met so many individuals even a few bloggers and stylist I admire. I will be doing a special segment these next few weeks dedicated to NYFW, showcasing the shows I went to as well as what I wore. Enjoy!

The Pant Suit "Remix"

Some people know that I love a good pair of pants. Honestly, I wear pants more than I wear skirts and dresses. I'm sure you can tell from my blog post. HA! Well, I've been wanting to do a pants post for some time now and I've been loving the "Pant Suit" Trend. I originally wanted to design a light pink version and still plan on making it. However, I decided to do a little remix to the pant suit. By making it from a bold, bright, & abstract print I bought a while back.

Last Days of Summer

It seems like this summer just flew by. I'm not even sure if I got to do everything that I wanted to do this summer. But honestly this summer was the best summer I had in a long time. I accomplish so much in the past three months. I launch my blog, I opened up my online Etsy shop, I join a few sewing groups, etc.

Sunshine

Yellow has always been a favorite color of mine. To me it represents happiness. The sun shining a special light down on you, wanting you to smile and be happy. Happiness is the one thing that can make a horrible day or boring day into something beautiful. I challenge you to find something each day, that makes you happy and manifest on that thought. Let it warm your heart and over take your mind.

Lady in Red

Red has got to be the most sexiest color on earth. When a women wears red she feels, sexy, sophisticated, elegant, and timeless. I always wanted a red dress that was sexy and said "She is a Boss". However, I could never could find the right one. Nothing seem to suit my taste. I wanted something I could not only wear to a meeting but also wear on a date. So, I designed this.

Summer Skater

Skater dresses has been a must have item for every girl this past year. I've seen so many variations that often too many times they began to look a like. I adore the look, but I wanted something different then what was out there. Of course, you know I had to make my own.  I decided to use the left over fabric I had from my maxi dress I made, which I posted about early on this season; Summer Leaves  (Take a look)

Floral Beauty

As a designer often we get ask what's our inspiration behind our work. Usually it's a long dramatic answer, sometimes it's short and sweet. Can you guess mine? I'm short an sweet because everything inspires me. Many of times if i don't know what to do, I just talk to my mannequin. I know you guys are about to give me a side eye right now. She talks to mannequins, weirdo but listen, we as individuals put so much pressure on ourselves. This often causes mind roadblocks, especially when it comes to design. It's best to just let it flow.

Simply Elegant

Sometimes simple and bright is the best combination you can wear during the summer season. I love bright colors and two of my favorites are yellow and green. Its something about the two that just screams look at me and when combined seem so effortless and beautiful.

Shine Brighter Than The Sun

Taking pictures has always been something I dread. Mainly because I had to look at myself through a lens, and often I wouldn't feel pretty. I would nit pick at every single thing and would feel horrible about myself after. Self-hatered has been a battle I've been fighting since junior high, due to name calling at school, jokes being played, even negativity in my home.

Must Have Summer Accesories

Everyone has a list of things they must have this season. Honestly speaking every season. However, it's important to have the things that not only complete your style but also go along with more than one outfit in your wardrobe. As women we have the habit of buying all that we love and not having a thing to wear with it. It's great to grab because you can also wear it later. But its best if you grab what's a must-have with a high rate of commitment. Here are my accessory must haves! These gorgeous Steve Madden nudes from Nastygal . They will take an outfit and give it a dash of edge and class this summer season.

Aurora Dreams

During the summer, it's essential to have on bright colors. It's like a mandatory rule, that you just must always look bright and happy. I honestly apply this rule throughout the year because I love colors. So, much so that a lot of it is reflected in my designs. Including this beautiful maxi skirt.

Wrap Celebration

This dress I made right after my cherry bomb wrap dress. I had this print for a while and thought it would be beautiful in that style. I decided this time to add short sleeves, to give it more of a classic look. The print is very edgy, yet sophisticated. I paired it with nude strap heels from Zara  to help pick up the hints of beige in the dress. This silhouette is currently one of my favorites, however, I don't plan on wearing it out because I wanted to wear it in the future.

Cherry Bomb Babe

Who says a grown women can't wear cherries? Not I. I love, love, love this dress. I was a little skeptical when I first found the fabric but I couldn't resist it's charm. Like the designer that I am, I knew I had to take a chance and I am truly happy with the results.  This dress is sexy yet sophisticated! The fabric is made from a cotton/spandex blend. It is breathable and comfortable.

Places to Go: Rosa Mexicano

One thing you guys will soon learn about me is that I love food. I love going out to eat to but I also like cooking at home as well. However, eating out is an experience. Like my bestfriend would say it’s a performance like a play, once it’s over it’s over. You never get the dish made the same again, its always slightly different.

Minnie Mouse DIY: McCall’s M6833 Review

I was strolling down on Facebook one day and I saw one of my friends with a lovely polka dot summer dress that I thought was so adorable. I wanted one, but I wasn’t going to buy one. Of course not! I wanted to make my own. Whenever I get a chance to brush up on the basics of sewing I take it and stitch with it. I wanted make it before my vacation. I had only two days before I left for my trip. I didn’t feel like making the pattern from scratch so for the first time I used a pre-made pattern.

Summer Leaves

I love the summer time! The weather is so beautiful and everyone is just full of life. One thing everyone does in summer time is VACA! Vacation that’s right and I took me a little one to Maryland. I did have a few meetings in DC while I was away though. No worries, I was still able to get some relaxation time and wear a new favorite dress of mini. My new Maxi dress!

Cropped Season

Now, who doesn't love black and white?  No matter how you wear the two, you can be sure to look clean, sophisticated, and edgy! This crop top was originally made for my latest collection from my clothing line; Brigette Clarice. I loved it so much; I just had to create one for myself. Made from an imported Italian cotton woven, the print is bold yet classic. I decided to make white high waist pants to go along with it, but I wanted different from the standard.

Painting Spring

Spring is here and it’s time to cheer! Or should we say time to break out the dresses. I was fabric hunting one night and I came across this beautiful floral print crochet knit fabric. It was so unique and different. As a designer certain things are hard to come by, one being printed crochet knit fabric.

Plaid in the City

I am a little obsessed with vintage style and look. I had this plaid light wool fabric in my fabric bin for a year. I really wanted to turn it into a coat but didn’t have enough yardages. So, I decided to create something chic with a little vintage edge. Seams (lol get it seams) like trumpet dresses are trending this year, so why not create one of my own. I created this mini trumpet dress, with leather trimming on the bodice. I love how this light wool is breathable yet sturdy. It makes it a great transition piece.
