Metropolitan Museum // China Through the Looking Glass



During my trip to the met museum I had the privilege of checking out the latest exhibition; China through the Looking Glass. The exhibition showcases how Chinese cultural has impact the Western fashion world. With various designs made by designers like Paul Poiret to Yves Saint Laurent, we see how the Chinese cultural has inspired Western designers.

 The collaboration between The Costume Institute and the Department of Asian Art from paintings, porcelains, headpiece, including films that shows Chinese imagery. The exhibit features over 140 haute couture and avante-garde ready-to-wear alongside beautiful Chinese art. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the exhibit. Enjoy!!




Can we just say yes to this dress. No one can tell me I'm not taking this home, and then I woke up from my dream. I just love the flow of the dress, the detailing in the embroidery in each strip. Each one handmade and placed.





Throughout the exhibit, each look had a headpiece. What memorize me the most was the head piece of an actually Chinese village (below). Handcrafted and made from wood, detailing to perfection, from the trees to the three floor buildings. I love the creativity throughout.








Between the detail bow on this dress (above) to the plate head piece (below) on the mannequin, I couldn't even get my creative mind together. What I love the most is the different themes they take you through during the exhibition. It went from imperial to western culture, it was something right out of the movies.




Ending the exhibition were these beautifully designed Kimonos all placed around the lower level. Some where showcased by themselves, while others where showcase next to the outfits inspired by them. What I love was the incorporation of the detailing from the Kimono into the details of the blazer and the gown.
 Let's not forget to take a moment to gag over the ending headpiece on the gown, yes!!

    It was one of the best fashion, culture and history exhibition that was presented by the Met.

Stripes & Culottes

NYFW this year was such a blessing. Way more than I could have dreamed. However, between the move of the shows from Lincoln Center to actually buildings it made it difficult to commute back and forth. I didn't know whether I was coming or going this week. It was a bit difficult to keep up with my looks as well due to my work schedule. However, I was able to capture this one which was my favorite look from the whole week. And guess what Jesus styled me!!!!

Accesory of the Week // Alex & Ani

Running home after school with report card in one hand and a joy in your heart. You get home to show your parents how much you achieved.  They take pride and joy in their  baby girl so the next day they take you out shopping. They find a trinket that's more that an enough to show how proud they are. A simple charm of achievement, that showcase how proud they are and motivates you to forever achieve the best and accomplish every goal you ever put forward. This is just a speck of what some little girls dream of.
